Vermicompost is a nutrient-rich organic fertilizer produced through the decomposition of organic matter by earthworms. It enriches soil with essential nutrients, including nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, promoting robust plant growth and development. Its high microbial activity enhances soil fertility and suppresses plant diseases, contributing to healthier and more resilient ecosystems. Additionally, vermicompost improves soil structure, water retention, and aeration, leading to better plant root development and overall crop yields.
Our vermicompost recipe is made from a selection of leafy green food scraps upcycled from grocery store trim, local sawdust and 1/2 million worms

I hadn't realized you could use vermacompost for house plants instead of regular fertilizer. My house plants loved it! They responded with a flush of new growth and a renewed sort of liveliness I'd never seen after adding pellets or liquid fertilizer. Recommended 🌱
Salt Spring Soil's vermicompost is really great. It’s the only compost I have ever been able to buy that is actually alive with tons of beneficial microbes and even worms! A sprinkling in each of my nursery pots mid-summer showed growth and greener leaves within days. Great stuff!
I have purchased the worm castings from Salt Spring Soil a few times and have found it enormously useful as a soil augment - that seems to create results!! Plant vigour at every stage - I have used it at the base of my fruit trees as a late fall dressing, And this spring I am using it as an augment in my seedling soil mix- to ensure the wee ones get what they need as they start.
Its very easy to work with!
