The process of pyrolysis (the specific burning method used to make biochar) creates a large surface area with numerous tiny pores, providing an ideal environment for microbes to inhabit and nutrient retention, fostering healthier plant growth and overall soil ecosystem resilience.

Biochar needs to be activated before incorporating into the soil. To activate:

• Mix with compost and let it sit for two weeks or
• Mix with compost tea or organic liquid fertilizer and let sit for 24 hrs
